Paul Leischow - 09:10pm, Dec 21 2021

This may sound like a dumb question but where do I find the settings to allow for Password Recovery in World Client?

In the administrator interface I have password recovery turned on and I have the option for password recovery selected for the user. IN the Help file it shows in World Client there will be an option to enter an email for where the recovery password will be sent but this does not seem to show up in World Client anywhere.

Help !?

Hello,

Just to confirm, in MDaemon under Setup / Web & IM / Webmail / Settings, you have the box checked for "Enable Password Recovery" correct?

Users' should be able to set the Recovery email address by logging into webmail and going to Options / Security.  The user will be required to enter their Current Password in order to save the changes to the Recovery email address.

If you are still having issues, what version of MDaemon are you using?

What theme are you using?

As far as I can see the settings are correct and I am using the latest version of mDaemon and WorldClient... although I have checked the other themes and there is no option for password recovery under those either.

There is only the option to change current password.

Are all user's having the issue or only some?

On the MDaemon server, in the user's mailbox directory there is a WC folder with a User.ini file, does the User.INI file contains EnablePasswordRecovery=No?

If you open MDaemon\WorldClient\Domains.ini, does it contain EnablePasswordRecovery=No?

Yes, ALL

>If you open MDaemon\WorldClient\Domains.ini, does it contain EnablePasswordRecovery=No?

It has... EnablePasswordRecovery=Yes

>On the MDaemon server, in the user's mailbox directory there is a WC folder with a User.ini file, does the User.INI file contains EnablePasswordRecovery=No?

This entry does not appear in User.ini under any of the users.
When I add EnablePasswordRecovery=Yes manually into one of the users, the option now appears to add a recovery email address in World Client!!

Does this have to manually be added to ALL User.ini files or is there an option in the MDaemon admin interface to do this?

Thank you for sending a copy of your domains.ini file.

You actually have two entries for EnablePasswordRecovery=No which are causing the option to not be available.  The settings can be found on lines 227 and 269 of your domains.ini file.

Remove the EnablePasswordRecovery=No lines, save the file and restart webmail.  You should then be able to configure Password recovery for the users.

Ok, I have made the changes you suggested and now all domains have password recovery.

There now seems to be another problem. I am using "MD Admin" webpage to make changes and if I go into "Main\Webmail Settings\Settings" and uncheck "Enable Password Recovery" and also go into "Main\Domain Manager" and then go into each domain and under "Webmail Settings" uncheck "Enable Password Recovery" I can see in the "Domains.ini" the entries "EnablePasswordRecovery=No" under [Default:UserDefaults] and also under each domain [mydomain.com:UserDefaults] I see "EnablePasswordRecovery=No" yet Password recovery is now always on.
Regardless of all settings showing "EnablePasswordRecovery=No" it will not shut off, Password recovery is now always on for every domain.

So far I'm unable to reproduce the issue you are having.

Make sure you are logging out and then logging back into webmail after making a change.

If you are still having issues, try restarting webmail after making a change to the settings to see if the change is then applied.

Yes, I have logged out and back in.
I have tried restarting the MDaemon service as well and even with EnablePasswordRecovery=No in all settings, password recovery is now permanently ON for all domains.

MDaemon webmail seems to be ignoring these settings.

How exactly are you wanting this to be set up?  Are you wanting it enabled for one domain, but not another?  Only enabled for specific users?  Or something else entirely?

Ultimately I would like to have only 1 domain to allow for password recovery. The others would not allow it.

At first password recovery was not available on any domain. After you had me manually adjust the Domain.ini file, password recovery is available on all domains.

Currently it looks like there is a bug in MDaemon which is preventing it from turning password recovery on or off since I can set all the settings to OFF and I can look at the Domain.ini file and see that all the settings have been changed to OFF yet password recovery seems to be ON when I go to any of the domains in WorldClient.

I'm not able to reproduce the issue on my test machine so lets do this.

Edit your domains.ini file and remove all entries for "EnablePasswordRecovery=", save the file and restart webmail.

Then login to MDRA and go to Main / Webmail Settings / Settings, check the box for Enable Password Recovery.

Then go to Main / Domain Manager / Select the domain that you want password recovery enabled for / Edit / Webmail Settings, check the box for Enable Password Recovery.  Click Save and Close

Now select the domain that you do not want password recovery enabled for / Edit / Webmail Settings / Uncheck the box for Enable Password Recovery.  Click Save and Close.

Now check an account on both domains, is it working as expected?

If its still not working as expected, please send me another copy of your domains.ini file.

Also, please check the User.ini file for the user accounts you are testing with to make sure you do not have "EnablePasswordRecovery" listed in the User.ini file.  If you do, remove it.

Hi Arron, I checked the User.ini file for the accounts I have been testing with and they all had "EnablePasswordRecovery=Yes".
After removing this line as you suggested, everything now works as it should. I can now toggle Password Recovery ON and OFF through the MDaemon Admin Web Interface.

Thank you so much for your help !!
