ActiveSync through IIS is locking MD?

I have a repeating, but not reproducible, situation where it appears that MD stops responding. I can get a few days, maybe a week or two but it stops. I have been working through it since the 19.5 update. I am currently still on 19.5.0. If I load the UI the splash screen stops at "Installing (Outbreak Protection)". When I kill the w2wp.exe process that AS is hosted on MD appears to start responding. Reading release notes the closest related thing is "MDaemon service may hang at startup and prevent other services from starting" as when this happens, and it may be coincidental, I have seem some issues with the print spooler and quickbooks on that server.

Any ideas?

Update: There were a number of things that occurred around when this started and one of them was noticing that CLAM was off. I has enabled it.

Since I have disabled CLAM the issues have not reoccured. Not saying it was the solution but that was one of the turned-on-it-started-then-turned-it-off-it-stopped items...

Update: Still seeing some odd issues with the calendar where the .mrk file will update but the .msg files will not. The service has not locked up since I disabled CLAM. Just had a REALLY odd issue where all activesync accounts had their public calendar dissappear - I needed to remove all client connections - when everyone reconnected it showed back up. Really really odd stuff...

One of the reasons why I thought A/S and IIS was involved is that I can no longer bounce the WWWD service - w3p for the A/S host process needs to be ended manually in order to restart/refresh the service.

Just happened again: Users report mail is down. I check, MD process is unresponsive. I manually kill the MDaemon.exe, start and it starts but it locked until I manually end the w3p process hosting a/s.

The moment I kill the w3p process, MD begins responding.

Annnnd just happened again.

This time I just manually ended w3wp.exe and it came back.

Def some sort of ActiveSync/IIS issue.

Just saw the 19.5.4 release notes and the ActiveSync updates. Did not see them last time I viewed the release notes.

I am still on 19.5.0 due to the horror show that was upgrading to 19.5.0 - I'm a little gun shy.

Will give the update a shot shortly, hopefully that resolves the issues here.
