email refused when sending to mail.protection.outlook.com

Hi, We are suddenly having an issue when sending to someone who uses mail.protection.outlook.com. It will connect and then the other side will disconnect. Attached is what we are seeing for an error. We are not having issues sending to anyone else. Thanks,

IP addresses and Host names can be added to the STARTTLS Whitelist. In your log submission, the servers responding with host names in the 220 statements when MDaemon connects could be used or the IP address resolved by your DNS servers. Wildcards are also accepted for host names and IP addresses. In the case of your first two connection failures, *.mail.protection.outlook.com could be added. However, this would have all connections to O365 servers not use STARTTLS, which may not be desired. If the Office 365 configuration requires STARTTLS, the connection will not succeed. --

Did you find a resolution to this. We are also seeing this issue, only when sending *protection.outlook.com gateways.

We were able to get this working by adding *.protection.outlook.com to the STARTTLS Whitelist. This must be a bug in the software or with one of the AV/Scanning plugins.
This problem started two weeks ago.

Where you receiving the same errors as the original poster about the "socket connection closed by the other side" or something else in the SMTP log? If unsure, please submit the SMTP-(out) log on the date the issue occurred to us using the request support link in my signature and a technician can help review your log file. The logs folder is /MDaemon/Logs by default. You can verify which directory by reviewing the Log Mode menu in the Server Settings / Logging menu. http://help.altn.com/mdaemon/en/index.html?log_mode.htm --
