Hello,

Mdaemon stores email in a flat-file structure easy to read/alter. For security reason shouldn't Mdaemon apply encryption to stored email texts and file attachments like Mailstore ?

Thanks
Luca

Depending on who you are trying to prevent from reading the messages, there are a couple options available.  You can use the disk encryption provided by Microsoft to encrypt all files on disk.

You can use Virtru, which is included in WorldClient for end to end encryption. In addition to protecting your mail on disk, Virtru also protects it through the entire delivery process. MDaemon OpenPGP can also be configured to leave messages encrypted on disk, however, it requires that you configure your email client to decrypt the messages.  While these encryption options provide protection beyond just where messages are stored on your mail server they both require that the messages are encrypted by the sender.

If you are trying to prevent somebody, such as an administrator from reading email on disk, you can secure the mailbox directories on disk using Windows permissions by not allowing the user to have access to the folders.
