Hello,

Sorry for a question that has certainly already been asked, but i am confused how to setup this.

we send newsletters from a mailserver (mail1.domain.com)
and need to sign messages using DKIM for yahoo and other providers to better accept those mails.

each mailing list has an email address at the format mailinglistA@mailing.domain.com
(we use the domain mailing.domain.com only for those mailing lists)

but we send mails "from" addresses like usera@domain.com or userb@ANOTHERdomain.com

a mail from userb sent to the mailing list appears like this in recipients' outlook:

"mailinglistA@mailing.domain.com on behalf of userb@ANOTHERdomain.com"

A bounce address is setup for each mailing list (bounce@mailing.domain.com)
so senders do not receive all bad mails (lists of thousands of recipients)

headers of a mail:

X-Envelope-From: userb@ANOTHERdomain.com
X-MDaemon-Deliver-To: recipient@externaldomain.com
X-MDMailing-List: mailinglistA@mailing.domain.com
Precedence: bulk
Sender: mailinglistA@mailing.domain.com
From: userb@ANOTHERdomain.com

1. in security, DKIM signing, i generated the pub & priv. keys

=> in which Domain DNS do i have to put the txt record ? domain.com or mailing.domain.com ?
=> do i have to put anything in domain "ANOTHERdomain.com"

thanks,

The DKIM entries will be made in the DNS records of the domain that mailing list messages will be coming from.

If the MDaemon mailing list's email address is "mail-list@example.com" then the DNS records of "example.com" would need to be modified.

The DNS TXT records that need to be created are listed in file "\MDaemon\Pem\MDaemon\dns_readme.txt"

Assuming that you kept "MDaemon" as your selector when creating your public and private keys, then you will need to create the TXT record "MDaemon._domainkey.<YourDomain>" as your selector record and _adsp._domainkey.<YourDomain> as your adsp record.

For mailing list email to be signed, in addition to enabling the feature "Sign outbound messages using DomainKeys Identified Mail" one must also enable the option "...sign mailing list messages".

When one selects the option "...sign mailing list message" one will get the following warning:
"Signing list mail requires content filter processing on each individual list message. The option to perform content filtering once per list will be disabled if you proceed. This will slow list message processing for larger lists."
